New Student Orientation Information

High School Orientation Schedule: 


Valley Oaks Charter School (High School) is currently closed for enrollment, for the Fall 2007 semester.  We will be having orientations in November and December.  We will be enrolling for the Spring 2008 semester.  Please call 661-636-4467 to sign up for the next orientation time.

All orientation times are from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm.

High School Location: Valley Oaks Charter School is a parent choice and parent participation, tuition-free charter where parents, teachers and the community work together to educate one student at a time. The school offers a wide range of options including home-based learning, cooperative school programs and classes, independent study, group seminars and learning projects. Welcome to the new school year at Valley Oaks Charter School. Beginning the 2006-2007 school year brings new excitement, new students, new teachers, but the same commitment to assist families who have selected to school their children at home. We try out new ideas, give up old ideas that did not meet our expectations and hope to continue to perfect what we offer to you in your learning adventures. We are always open to parental suggestions and offers of assistance with field trips and enrichment classes. Some of our parents are very talented in specific areas and love to share their expertise. We encourage you to volunteer in an area where you feel gifted. As always, we want to have you see us as your partner and support system.

 

Valley Oaks is a parent choice school. We are here to help you do what is best for your child. Your Resource Teacher is ready to meet whatever needs you may have. Use your meeting time to learn new teaching techniques, find new ways of motivating your child(ren), and select the activities and enrichment that will complement what you are doing at home with your lessons.

 

Each year we try to improve our services to you. This year is no exception. We have been hard at work over the summer adding books, activities, resources, and trying to anticipate what your needs might be. If we have overlooked some good ideas, share them with your Resource Teacher or become involved in our parent club, VOPAC, and help to make things even better. We are partners working together to make your children’s education a successful experience.

Valley Oaks Charter School is chartered by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office (KCSOS). Therefore, all policies and regulations guiding that organization apply to Valley Oaks Charter School (VOCS). Copies of KCSOS Board policies and VOCS Board approved policies are available upon request.
