Welcome 7th Graders!

This is an important year as your student begins the transition into junior high school.

This year they will be taking the state writing evaluation in the spring.  It is important that they feel comfortable writing in many different styles such as; Expository, Persuasive and Response to Literature.  The grid is set up so that they will have many opportunities to practice their writing skills throughout the year.  If they are using a different curriculum and need supplemental writing practice, make sure to check out the M.E.S.H. drawers for a variety of writing exercises. Students and families are encouraged to take full advantage of enrichment courses that focus on writing that are offered throughout the year.

The seventh grade level project is a Renaissance/Medieval History report.  Your student can research a person, event, or artwork for the time period OR they may opt to do a Life Science Report, choosing a topic from the text.

We have many exciting enrichment classes that will be offered this year.  In addition, there are many additional opportunities for your student to be involved in such as; Battle of the Books, Odyssey of the Mind and our new Community Outreach that will be highlighted each month in the Acorn.

Please contact your resource teacher or Donna Roberts if you have any questions regarding the 7th grade curriculum.
