How to Successfully Complete the Class

"How to Take an Online Class at UniversalClass"
==============================

Step 1: You've successfully joined the class "How to Take an Online Class at UniversalClass". Instructor Candace Mason has been notified of your enrollment as of 8/7/2008 8:28:29 AM. You have 6 months from this date to successfully finish the course. Congratulations! You've just taken the first step to completing this class.

Step 2: Access the Class Start Page. This is available at the course URL. Additionally, all your classes are available under the "My Classes" tab that is located on every page of our service. Your progress in all classes is displayed under the "My Transcripts" tab that is located beside the "My Classes" tab.

Step 3: Your online instructor (Candace Mason) is available through "Class Email" (under the Communications tab). You may contact the class instructor anytime about relevant matter pertaining to the class. However, please keep in mind that Instructor Candace Mason is a person with many other responsibilities and commitments to other students (and leads a personal life as well). So be patient when waiting for replies from your instructor. You should check the Instructor Status page to see how long a response will take and/or if the instructor is on vacation. In general, our instructors will reply to you within 3 business days, most will reply within 24 hours, it depends on the instructor's schedule and workload.

Step 4: Read the syllabus. This gives you an idea of the breadth and depth of the course, what is required from you, and any grading policies. Do not attempt to do any lessons, assignments, or tests without first reading the syllabus for any special instructions.

Step 5: Introduce yourself in the Class Forums area. Don't be shy! Break the ice with your fellow classmates.

Step 6: Read the Announcements posted on the Announcements page. These announcements will keep you abreast on current classroom activities.

Step 7: You're now ready for the meat of the course, which is located in the Class Lessons area. The Class Lessons area is where the instructional content is posted along with any related Class Polls, NetLinks, Assignments, Tests, and Shared Files. When completing lessons keep in mind the following:

  • Do the Class Lessons in the order specified. Do not jump ahead.
  • Only click the "I've Completed Lesson" button when you have finished ALL lesson activities (such as related tests or assignments).
  • When you complete an assignment or test you may receive a temporary, automated grade for the item. However, it is not official. The instructor reviews all tests and assignments and adjusts grades accordingly. For example, essay questions are not automatically graded and a test with essays will initially show a lower score until the instructor manually grades the test.
  • You can track your progress by clicking on the "Report Card" tab within the class. However, any official grades that you have will be emailed to you by Instructor Candace Mason directly.

Step 8: Once you've complete all the Class Lessons and all related material and scored a passing final grade, the instructor will issue you a Certificate of Course Completion and you will be removed from the class. The course will show up in your "My Transcripts" area as a completed course with your final grade recorded. If you complete the class with above stellar marks, then Instructor Candace Mason may award you with academic honors, such as a Certificate of Academic Excellence. These awards are issued sparingly, so you should feel honored if you achieve this level of mastery.

Additional Tips:

The way to make the most out of your online class is to participate. Be proactive in contacting the instructor and posting questions or comments in the Class Forums area. This helps you as well as helps the instructor make the course better for future students. Take the assignments seriously. Don't rush to do them. Only submit your best work. Our instructors are lenient on the amount of time they give you to complete an assignment, so use this opportunity to only submit your best work.

Good luck, and happy learning!
