Visit to Bakersfield Museum of Art

Friday, September 28, 2007 and

Friday, December 14, 2007

Yes, there is an assignment connected to this visit. During this tour you are to:

1. Be on your best behavior

• Listen politely and attentively to our docent.

• Do not engage in any behavior that would compromise the safety of the art or your fellow viewers.

2. Take notes during the tour paying particular attention to:

• The characteristics of the featured artists and

• The differences in style between the featured artists.

3. At the end of the tour, find one work that you like. Take notes that you will use later to make a detailed written description of that painting. In this written description you should:

• Give the title, artist, date and medium of the particular work of art.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the vocabulary learned in this class (Okay, I will not hold you to this since we are only in the second week.).

• Write a thorough and elegant description of that particular work of art. Write as though you are describing the work to someone who cannot attend the exhibit

The written work described above is due when we resume classes on Tuesday, December 5, 2006.
