Directed Writing

Parent Portfolio Evaluation

Unit 2: Due date for this portfolio is 10/12/07

Directions for Parents: Please complete this sheet by filling in how many assignments your student finished for each section of the portfolio. The number of completed assignments should be written over the number of assignments possible.

 

1) Vocabulary/Spelling: Log 30 words on Personal Spelling and Vocabulary list. Study these words and quiz for spelling and definition. (3 points for each list of 10 words)

2) Skill Building: Complete activity worksheets pages 3-4, 4, 9, 12, 19, 24-26 and sentence combining worksheets 6-11 for a total of 15 pages. (1 point each)

3) Journals: (also known as quick writes or informal writing) Write non-stop for three minutes daily for 15 days. (1 point each)

4) Writing Workshops: Complete two writing workshops which include all six steps of the writing process. The two workshops for this month are Writer’s Workshop #2 (Observation and Description) and Writer’s Workshop #3 (Narrative and Literary Writing/Short Story). Count six steps for each essay for a total of 12.

5) Writing Project: Final copy of one advertisement, one cartoon strip and a completed pre-write for the informative research article.
